Citizens for Responsible Development  is a community-based organization working to inform local residents about issues of planning and development; to advise and assist community organizations with technical resources and expertise; and to advocate for an open and inclusive planning process to encourage smart growth in the 50th Ward.

Neighborhoods need change to remain vibrant. But today, we have no plan and no vision for the future of West Rogers Park, Devon Avenue and surrounding areas. Instead, development is chaotic and a detriment to our neighborhoods.

There is a better way. Instead of letting unplanned development dictate our future, we can work together to manage growth and build upon the character of our historic neighborhoods. But first, we need a plan.

Planning for the future requires openness, honesty and vision. A successful plan requires an understanding of the unique character of our neighborhoods and the needs of our diverse community. Without a plan, development will continue to be scattered, incoherent, and out of character with its surroundings. But by working together, we can ensure a bright future for our neighborhoods.
